How many times
must you know love,
How many times
must you let it go,
How many times
before you get to keep.

You’re on a clock,
I watch seconds
minutes
hours pass on,
What is inevitable,
It will come
it is so,
Why do I love
if I love to lose,
How I love to lose
I only love
to lose,
How you dwell in loss,
How I fear,
How I suffer
whilst your presence
it exists yet.

Here and now
This is a gift,
Most including myself
never accepting
of its abundance,
We steal the future
a future
that no owner holds,
It is not ours
to have
It is its own,
To arrive.

If you live,
If I live,
Inside this second,
This never-ending present
then perhaps
I won’t lose,
you won’t lose
we won’t lose
one another
each other
to unruly
restless time.
